We are currently seeking new team members to join our dynamic leadership team. The SIG is led by a group of highly engaged scholars who come together to address matters relevant to the SIG, share reflections on academic life, and foster a supportive, intellectually vibrant community. Our team meets virtually throughout the year to coordinate events, share recent publications from our members, and organize the SIG’s panels for the annual CIES conference. Participation is flexible and shaped by each member’s availability, making it possible to contribute meaningfully regardless of other commitments. Appointments typically span two years and can be adapted based on individual availability and interest.
Open Positions
Co-Chair:
- Represents the SIG at SIG meetings during CIES annual conferences
- Coordinates and monitor all the activities of the SIG
- Communicates with SIG secretariat
- Coordinates and keeps track of the activities of the SIG-elected and -appointed officers
- Prepares reports for the SIG business meetings at the CIES annual conference
- Looks for new endeavours and projects for the SIG
- Provides a vision and strategic development for the SIG (incl. establishing
- Collaborations with other SIGs and relevant stakeholders)
Awards Chair
- Oversees the process of soliciting nominations and selecting recipients for awards offered by the SIG
- Establishes criteria and guidelines for award nominations
- Coordinates with the program chair, communications chair and other relevant officers to publicize the awards and encourage nominations
- Forms a selection committee to review nominations and choose awardees
- Organizes the presentation of awards at conferences or other events
- Maintains records of past recipients and track the impact of the awards
Communications Co-Chair
- Develops and curate content for our active social media platforms – BlueSKY and LinkedIn (e.g. visuals, videos, text)
- Curates and updates our WordPress web-blog
- Puts together and sends out the monthly newsletter
- Stays informed on recent publications and trends, social media best practices, and emerging platforms to ensure our social media presence remains innovative and relevant
- Creates and executes social media strategies that boost online presence among researchers and scholars
- Monitors and responds to comments, messages, and mentions across social media channels, fostering positive interactions with our audience
Event Manager
- Assists the Program Chair in developing an exciting program for members all year long
- Organizes and coordinates online SIG events, such as the G&E online conference, Webinars etc
- Helps with the logistics of organizing the social event at the annual meeting
Program Chair (This is a shared position, usually shared with one of the Chairs)
- Develops and manages the SIG’s program for the CIES annual conference (i.e. Unit Planning)
- Organizes the reviewing process
- Creates panels, presentations, and other activities related to the annual conference.
Nominations
Nominees must be G&E SIG dues-paying members and members of the CIES. They should have a demonstrated commitment to the SIG. They should, if possible, be available to participate in the annual CIES conference.
