The Directorate for Education and Skills (EDU) leads the Organisation’s work to help member and non-member countries achieve high-quality learning for all, design better skills policies, and turn them into jobs and growth. The directorate carries this out by providing statistics, analysis and policy advice to countries on a wide range of educational topics.
EDU’s Innovation and Measuring Progress Division (IMEP) works at the frontier of public policy in education to support the Programmes of Work and Budget of the Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI) and the Education Policy Committee (EDPC). The Division builds bridges between education research, policy and practice, helps to understand emerging challenges, and maps and supports innovation. It also explores what futures could look like and analyses their implications for education.
IMEP is looking for an intern to contribute to its ongoing work on the Survey on Social and Emotional Skills (SSES), an international survey that measures students’ social and emotional skills and related factors and outcomes. Pilot fieldwork (cognitive interviews with 24 students and 20 teachers from each of the participating countries and cities) of the survey’s third round will take place from September to December 2025, with Main Survey fieldwork in the second semester of 2026, and reporting in 2027. The intern will be supporting the SSES team with preparing and administering the pilot in all participating sites: checking and approving adaptations made to the source survey instruments in national and local languages; verifying the final national/local versions of the survey instruments and assisting sites if they have questions regarding pilot administration. The intern will also support the SSES team with conducting background research for the design of the questionnaires to parents and principals and analysing the pilot data.
The intern will work under the supervision of Analysts from the SSES team and the SSES project manager.
