About the Position
The Vice President of Programs will work closely with our leadership team and across the philanthropy ecosystem to lead the design, engagement, execution, and evaluation of Philanthropy Together's programs. The VP will serve as a thought partner and strategic advisor to our CEO and Chief Strategy Officer, working closely with them to increase the efficacy, impact, and visibility of collective and collaborative giving. In collaboration with our team, the VP will strategize, plan, and implement education and training for a wide range of audiences, including at the group level (e.g. collaborative funds, giving circles, mutual aid groups, women's funds); at the individual donor level (everyday donors, U/HNW individuals, philanthropic advisors); and at the host level (community foundations, corporate philanthropies, philanthropic intermediaries). This position reports to the CEO and provides supervision for the Program Manager.
● Program Strategy & Planning Lead program strategy, priority-setting, and planning in partnership with the leadership team, translating grants and goals into clear workplans, timelines, and budgets.
● Curriculum & Program Design Design new content and refine/adapt existing curricula, tools, and learning experiences tailored to multiple audience types listed above, various partners, and across multiple program formats (cohort experiences, in-person and virtual trainings, events and convenings, etc.). Utilize best practices in adult learning to achieve desired actions by participants.
● Program Execution & Delivery Manage day-to-day program delivery to ensure high-quality execution, on-time performance, and seamless coordination across team members and vendors. Recruit, prepare, and coach internal and external facilitators, offering guidance and feedback to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
● Direct Facilitation Facilitate trainings, workshops, events, and ad hoc sessions as needed (modeling Philanthropy Together's values and expertise) and delivering engaging, inclusive learning experiences.
● Participant Recruitment & Experience Oversee participant recruitment (including promotion, intake, communication, and resource-sharing working closely with our communications manager) and ensure exceptional delivery and support throughout a participant interaction with any given program or event.
● Systems & Process Management Strengthen internal programming-related systems—including vendor contracting, expense tracking, documentation, participant tracking, content workflows—to ensure programs run smoothly from start to finish.
● Partnership Development Cultivate new and nurture existing relationships with partners, organizations, and funders to expand program reach and impact. Serve as a core relationship manager and trusted advisor to a set of Philanthropy Together partners, developing a deep understanding of their perspectives, needs and priorities to support strong programmatic offerings.
● Evaluation & Continuous Improvement Gather and analyze participant feedback, evaluation data, and research insights; synthesize findings into actionable improvements for program content, delivery, and participant-facing processes and communications.
● Innovation & New Program Pilots Identify emerging needs, conduct or oversee landscape research, and design rapid-response offerings or pilot programs that test new ideas for relevance and impact.
Qualifications
● 10+ years relevant experience in a non-profit or philanthropy setting that includes at least 3+ years team management experience and 5+ years managing programming for diverse adult audiences. Ideal, but not required experience: direct experience with collective or collaborative giving models (e.g. collaborative funds, giving circles, women's funds, community-centered grantmaking, funder collaboratives, pooled funds, mutual aid societies, etc.); lived experience as a member of a giving circle or staff of a collaborative fund; working across time-zones; working in a multi-lingual environment.
● An enthusiasm for our mission and a commitment to being an accountable contributor to our team.
● Excellent facilitation skills and knowledge of adult pedagogy and best practices for program, curriculum, and training design in remote and in-person settings.
● Leadership skills and management experience, including the ability to develop team performance and a genuine desire to coach and mentor.
● Demonstrated ability to establish rapport with multiple contributors at all levels of leadership, across geographies and communities, and across lines of difference.
● Strong orientation towards collaboration and teamwork; track record of "rolling up your sleeves" and working collaboratively with others to bring projects to successful completion.
● Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills and adept at keeping all stakeholders apprised of relevant information, status of deliverables, and progress towards goals.
● Strong project manager with excellent administrative, planning, and organizational skills including the ability to work productively in a dynamic organization where shifting priorities, overlapping projects, competing deadlines, and multiple stakeholders must be managed.
● Highly skilled at working independently across a remote team, with strong self-initiative, accountability to project timelines and goals.
● You are someone who enjoys a balance of working independently and being a valued collaborator on a tight-knit, highly-collegial team that honors authenticity and exercises genuine caring for the wellbeing of ourselves as individuals, for our team as a whole, and for our broader communities.
● Experience with technology and ability to keep current with the latest organizational and communications tools (e.g. Airtable; Asana; Slack; Hubspot).
● Proficient with AI tools for drafting, research, and workflow support, with a commitment to accuracy, sound oversight, and strong ethical judgment for the usage of AI across any programmatic work.
Start Date, Location, Compensation & Benefits
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Our ideal start date is February 2, 2026, but we understand that our finalist may have considerations that would require a later date, and we will negotiate that on a case-by-case basis.
The annual salary for this position is $175k.
This person will be an employee of our fiscal sponsor, Global Impact, and as such is eligible for their competitive benefits package which 16 paid holidays and 25 paid days off; an excellent benefits plan including parental leave, medical, dental; short-term and long-term disability; and a robust 401K program.
The role is fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States. The VP can expect to travel domestically to 2-4 events per year, including our annual in-person staff retreat, an annual community-building event, and various philanthropy-related conferences.
