About Lumos
Founded by author J.K. Rowling in 2005, Lumos Foundation works to realise every child's right to a family by transforming care systems globally. Our vision is a world in which every child grows up in a safe and loving family.
Lumos partners with governments, civil society, and young people with lived experience to advocate for and implement family-based care solutions. Since 2005, Lumos has enabled more than 280,000 children to safely return to their families or alternative family-based care.
Lumos has set itself ambitious goals for the next decade: to enable 500,000 children in care to return to family-based care, and to prevent 10 million children from experiencing family separation. Working with local, national and global partners, Lumos will support government-led, systemic and sustainable change in the way children are cared for across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Lumos' ambition for children is significant and will require the organization and its partners to work in new ways – with a pace, drive and urgency that this moment demands – and that children everywhere deserve. To help deliver our global ambition for children, we will reinvigorate our fundraising work in the USA. As a first step, we are seeking a new Board Chair of Lumos USA.
