We fight global warming with and for the many people.
The IKEA Foundation is an independent philanthropy that fights global warming with and for the many people. Founded by Swedish entrepreneur Ingvar Kamprad, we are proud to share the heritage and values of the business he started – IKEA. Though we operate independently from IKEA, we hold a common vision: to create a better everyday life for the many people.
To pursue this vision, we support partners that are working to bring long-term changes to high-emitting systems with a direct impact on people’s lives: Energy, Land, Food and Forests, and Buildings and Transport. We are committed to reducing and avoiding greenhouse gas emissions through people-centred solutions. This support is made possible by financial resources generated over decades of IKEA business success. To date, we have provided nearly €3 billion in funding to our partners.
Togetherness is our core value and lies at the heart of our work. We recognise that solving the challenges of this century will require unprecedented levels of collaboration. No single organisation or group of people will be able meet them alone.
The IKEA Foundation is seeking an experienced, collaborative and purpose-driven Head of Learning and Impact to lead and develop its Learning and Impact team. This role calls for a strong people leader who can build a clear sense of direction, strengthen team culture, and create the conditions for people to do their best work in a complex and evolving environment.
The Head of Learning and Impact will lead the Foundation's learning and impact agenda, building the systems, practices and culture that enable deep, actionable learning across the organisation and its partnerships. They will help the Foundation understand what is working, why it is working, and what this means for future choices, while recognising that systems change is emergent, non-linear, and cannot be reduced to simple metrics or fixed plans. The role will ensure that evidence, insight and reflective dialogue inform strategic decision-making, organisational adaptation, and long-term impact in support of the Foundation's mission.
Reporting to the Chief Learning and Engagement Officer, the Head of Learning and Impact will steward the Foundation's Learning and Impact strategy while providing clear direction and support to the Learning and Impact team. Working closely with colleagues across Programmes, Convening & Engagement, Communications, Operations, and People & Culture, they will embed learning as a shared organisational practice. They will support the team to generate high-quality insights, facilitate collective sensemaking, and translate evidence and learning into decisions, adaptation, and stronger alignment across the organisation.
The successful candidate will design and maintain a learning ecosystem that enables accessible, inclusive and actionable learning for internal teams and key external stakeholders. They will foster opportunities for structured reflection, learning and dialogue, helping colleagues connect evidence, experience and emerging insights to strategic choices. They will also represent the Foundation in relevant learning networks, contributing to shared learning, field-building and sector-wide collaboration.
The Head of Learning and Impact will be confident navigating ambiguity and complexity. They will bring structure without rigidity, clarity without oversimplifying, and leadership that combines intellectual rigour with humility, curiosity and openness to emergence. Committed to adaptation and learning in complex systems, they will champion a culture of reflection, collaboration, psychological safety and continuous improvement, enabling both individuals and teams to learn, grow and perform at their best.
The position is full-time (38 hours) and based at the IKEA Foundation’s office in Leiden, the Netherlands, some international travel will be required. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
This is a unique opportunity to join a passionate, international team committed to creating meaningful change.
