The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation currently has a Manager, Change Management position open in Austin, Texas. This role requires that the person is based in Austin, TX and will be a part of our Operational Excellence Team. The Manager, Change Management is responsible for the leadership and coordination of organizational change initiatives within the foundation. This role involves developing and implementing change management strategies and plans aligned with the foundation's mission and goals, assessing the organization's readiness for change, and monitoring adoption and effectiveness of change across our global teams. This person will work closely with stakeholders at all levels to facilitate smooth and effective transitions. The Manager, Change Management also fills the role of Project Manager, as assigned, for new programs or initiatives involving cross-team inputs and execution.
The major responsibilities of the Manager, Change Management role include:
Change Management (75%)
- Responsible for the leadership and coordination of organization-wide change initiatives that align with foundation priorities and scaling strategies. This includes creating strategic objectives to improve organizational performance.
- Collects, assesses and consolidates stakeholder inputs to clearly identify needs and gaps and to define and develop change processes
- Focuses on improving various business processes using proven change management tools and techniques. Demonstrates ability to challenge the status quo, simplify complex processes with focus on optimal, sustainable business processes.
- Facilitates cross-functional project teams to ensure change sponsorship and adoption across offices. Models strong attention to detail while keeping big picture perspective.
- Creates communications to keep global teams updated on upcoming changes.
- Drives recommendations through to implementation including facilitating best-practice knowledge sharing across offices.
- Tracks and reports on the progress of changes and impact on employees; recommends and makes adjustments as needed.
- Demonstrates influence through and interfaces with all levels of management and staff to ensure that changes are well-scoped.
- Identifies potential risks associated with change initiatives and mitigates as needed to ensure success.
- Stays up to date with latest AI trends to identify and recommend relevant automation opportunities.
- Demonstrates a firm understanding of organizational development and change theory.
Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement (25%)
Contribute to departmental, group and global cross-Foundation initiatives to bolster the foundation’s organizational excellence. Includes the following responsibilities:
- Serve as a member of Operational Excellence Team which benchmarks best practices, and continuously refines operations to maximize efficiencies and track effectiveness across global offices and teams
- Work with the Operational Excellence Team’s Organizational Development lead and HR Managers to ensure onboarding, training modules and learning pathways incorporate organizational changes
- Work with the Operational Excellence Team’s Business Planning lead to integrate any relevant operational changes into annual planning cycle.
- Serve as project manager to identify, build, and implement cross-team special projects as assigned. Includes developing project plan/timeline/budget, plan and decision documentation, quality assurance testing, maintaining vendor relationships, and effective project management for the full project lifecycle.
- Support board meeting related preparation, as assigned, including clear articulation of our work to the board in collaboration with Programs and Communications teams.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Participate in weekly Global Operations Governance meetings as relevant to provide input on grant making system process changes or improvements, define requirements, facilitate implementation
- Provide Quarterly Business Unit Review content recommendations for Operational Excellence Team or broader operational change topics
- Network with peer foundations to identify best practices to be considered for continuous improvement.
- Maintain working knowledge of key grant making systems used at the foundation
- Attend grantee site visits to understand potential process change opportunities from the external perspective
Education / Experience you will need to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor’s Degree (ideally in project management or related fields) and 7-10 years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing change in a corporate setting
- Certified Change Management Professional Certification (CCMP) or equivalent certification.
- Knowledge of change management methodologies, strategic communication plans, workshop facilitation
- Strong judgment, critical thinking and demonstrable problem-solving skills
- Self-directed, comfortable with ambiguity
- Experience in leading high impact projects across global, cross-functional teams and departments, including partnering with Technology teams on system automation and implementations of AI solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong customer-service orientation, outstanding negotiation skills, professional composure under pressure
- Superior attention to detail and excellent organizational, time-management and project management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work independently as well as collaboratively as a member of a team and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Knowledge of and experience using project management methodologies and best practices
- Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills
- Impeccable integrity and trustworthiness, with an ability to handle sensitive information effectively and confidentially.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software such as Trello, Asana, Pivotal Tracker, or Basecamp preferred
- 5+ years in role supporting matrixed teams
- Project collaboration / documentation tool proficiency (e.g. Confluence)
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Power Point)
