The Social Innovation Manager, Financial Wellbeing, will serve as a strategic advisor and provide daily operational support on a portfolio of programs designed to address the areas of Financial Health, Health Essentials, and Economic Mobility for older adults living with low income, with a particular focus on addressing those areas with digital skills and tools. The Social Innovation Manager identifies, recommends, and implements opportunities for new products, services, and approaches to address social problems. This position formulates and evaluates alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve social innovation goals. The Social Innovation Manager develops strategic alliances with external stakeholders to facilitate knowledge sharing, exchange of ideas, and access to funding. They partner with cross-functional teams to drive implementation of social innovation programs.
Responsibilities
- Innovation and development of programs/products through discovery, design, development, delivery, and beyond, at various stages in a product lifecycle.
- Contributes to the development and management of a Product Management and Program Management capability at the Foundation, and developing tools and processes that will deliver market-ready programs that help the Foundation achieve our strategic goals.
- Facilitates cross-unit working groups developing solutions and processes where needed.
- Helps identify cross-unit collaboration and optimization of programs to increase impact against the Foundation’s strategic goals.
- Serves as a consultant and advisor to business units, as needed, on product management/program development matters.
- Advises and leads teams in conducting user research (e.g. interviews, surveys) with older adults, identify actionable themes/insights for pilot testing and iterative development of our products and programs.
- Develops product/program design principles and/or attributes that put the user at the center. Collect and analyze data, develop insights, and convert those insights into actionable proposals to address opportunities and threats to Foundation’s programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business, social sciences, entrepreneurship, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in social impact innovation or social enterprise development, with a particular focus in career or training services, financial wellness, or digital literacy.
- Deep understanding of a wide range of business models across both for-profit and nonprofit sectors, with the ability to apply them effectively in social innovation contexts.
- Proven ability to manage a complex portfolio of projects and align them with both operational and strategic goals, while fostering productive relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative research, including collecting, analyzing, and tracking performance metrics and reporting on outcomes.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple concurrent initiatives involving discovery, design, and project planning/execution.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, collaborative spirit, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Hybrid Work Environment
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
