We work closely with our government partners to design professional development programs for school leaders by understanding their priorities and needs. We support the school leaders through workshops, coaching, and building a community of practitioners who can learn from each other.
Overall our support to school leaders focuses on various aspects from their people management skills to more strategic skills like their ability to set long-term goals. Our programs focus on improving foundational literacy and numeracy and school culture by training school leaders.
Since 2020, we have worked with over 4000 school leaders in India supporting them in improving their leadership skills and school outcomes across 8 different government partners and have impacted 500,000 students in India
Job Purpose
The candidate will be responsible for supporting monitoring and evaluation processes to measure the effectiveness of Alokit's programs on the ground. The candidate will support the team in conducting program and ecosystem research (focused on developing research tools, managing surveys, data management, and analysis), providing M&E support to program teams, developing research proposals, and contributing to Alokit's research and communication efforts. The candidate will also support the ongoing research and learning activities as part of Alokit's Research Lab to contribute towards literature on School leadership in India.
The candidate will specifically focus on monitoring, evaluation, research and learning activities on a 1 year program on supporting school leaders with developing gender-responsive schools in Peddapalli, Telangana, India. The candidate should be comfortable with traveling based on the need of the program.

Reports to MERL Lead
Collaborates with Internally - Leadership Team, School Leadership Development Program Team and Finance and Operations
Externally - Telangana government stakeholders
Travel This role with involve the M&E Associate to travel to Peddapalli district of Telangana for data collection and research activities
Compensation 4,40,000 INR to 6,60,000 INR per annum
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
Program Evaluation
- Coordinate with the program team, government stakeholders, and the survey agency to conduct the baseline and endline survey
- Work with the Program Leads to create tools for Program Evaluation
- Monitor data collection quality
- Coordinate and participate in the qualitative research activities
- Manage, clean, analyze quantitative and qualitative data and share insights with team
Process Monitoring
- Closely work with the program team to track attendance and feedback for all workshops, coaching sessions, and learning circles
- Analyze data on attendance and workshop feedback on a regular basis and provide insights/findings to the program team
- Analyse program inputs (workshops, PLCs, coaching conversations) provided by the program team to provide regular insights on program implementation and support the team to make data-driven decisions regarding the program.
- Attending workshops and Learning Circles to make sense of program content and understand how implementation of the workshop content will look like
- Visit schools for making sense of program implementation and tracking change in leadership and classroom practices
Qualification & Experience
- Master's degree in a relevant field with a strong quantitative grounding; qualitative research experience a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience, ideally in the education or development sector.
- Experience in conducting monitoring and evaluation of education or other social sector programs.
- Experience in managing surveys and data collection.
- Strong MS Excel and MS Word skills
- Experience in presenting data to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Competencies
Quantitative Data Management & Analysis
- Proficiency in managing, cleaning, and analyzing quantitative datasets.
- Strong command of MS Excel for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.
- Ability to interpret and derive insights from numerical data.
Qualitative Research Methods
- Experience in conducting qualitative data collection activities (e.g., interviews, Focus Group Discussions - FGDs).
- Competency in transcribing qualitative data.
- Basic ability to support qualitative data analysis Data Quality Assurance & Monitoring
- Capacity to establish and implement procedures for monitoring data collection processes, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of all M&E data. Insight Generation & Communication
- Aptitude for synthesizing complex M&E data into clear, actionable insights and communicating these findings effectively through reports and presentations to inform decision-making.
Data Presentation & Visualization
- Skills in presenting complex data and insights clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Ability to create compelling data visualizations (e.g., charts, graphs).
