Job context
The Education Specialist role is focused on:
- Evidence and Research Dissemination – supporting the Global Education Evidence Advisory Panel (GEEAP) to contextualize and disseminate research and supporting the Building Evidence in Education (BE²) working group in sharing guidance notes and other knowledge products.
- Communications and Event Support – ensuring that education evidence is communicated effectively to diverse audiences through media, social platforms, and high-profile events.
This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and confident engaging with senior stakeholders and high-profile figures.
Principal Accountabilities: Intermediary Management (GEEAP)
- Connect, manage and strengthen relationships with key intermediaries in multiple countries as per the intermediary action plans.
- Provide supporting materials and information for intermediaries as needed.
- Manage and track the workplan for the intermediary's project; schedule regular calls; capture metrics; provide updates.
Principal Accountabilities: Dissemination and Uptake (GEEAP & BE²)
- Work with the Team Lead, GEEAP Secretariat and BE² Steering Committee to identify new opportunities for dissemination via global and regional events.
- Ensure the effective contextualisation of the GEEAP recommendations to facilitate uptake of GEEAP products by providing briefing information and slides for GEEAP speakers as relevant for events; support the development of briefing materials for events such as EWF.
- In-person presence at GEEAP and BE² priority events to provide speaker management and support and liaise with organizers and media (if required).
- Provide virtual support during virtual events, ensuring smooth delivery and professional representation.
Principle Accountability: Communications Support (GEEAP & BE²)
- Draft media stories, op-eds, blog and social media content, and contribute to newsletters using education sector knowledge.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders to arrange the writing of blogs and recording of podcasts (particularly following key events)
- Review education-related social media content to ensure policy and technical accuracy.
- Manage translation processes for key public documents, including proofreading and quality assurance.
- Coordinate design processes with external consultants (animators, designers), ensuring stakeholder views are incorporated and outputs delivered on time.
- Prepare media and podcast interview scripts and talking points for GEEAP representatives at major education forums and events.
Principal Accountabilities: Technical Input into Project Management (GEEAP & BE²)
- Contribute to funder report writing.
- Work with the Communications team and other team members to create pre and post-event summaries for relevant reporting and external communications.
- Attend the GEEAP Secretariat and BE² Steering Committee calls on a regular basis and take notes as needed.
- For other relevant meetings, take meeting notes, capture action items and share them after the meeting as needed.
- Work closely with the Team lead to respond to all project related information queries in a timely manner.
Principal Accountabilities: Research Support (GEEAP, BE² & MannionDaniels BD)
- Provide research support and coordination with research contractors for GEEAP and BE² products (as needed) in a thorough and timely manner
Personal specification
Essential
- Master's degree in education or a similar field
- Minimum 3 years' experience working in evidence dissemination on a national or international scale
- Experience conducting desk-based research in education
- Strong communications skills with proven ability to draft media stories, op-eds, and social media or similar content.
- Experience managing event preparation, including briefing materials, scripts, and presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with external consultants.
- Exceptional attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to build professional networks with diverse range of stakeholders including policymakers and senior researchers.
- Proven ability to represent professionally at high-profile events, confidently engaging with diverse stakeholders and effectively communicating knowledge on issues within the education sector
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Proven ability to operate in a team environment liaising with diverse teams in an international setting
- Proactive attitude, with ability to use own initiative, problem-solve, prioritise, and work under pressure to achieve results
- Experience working in an international context, particularly the Global South
- Good familiarity with Microsoft Office and online management systems
- Excellent written and fluently spoken English
Desirable
- Previous experience working on FCDO-funded or similar donor-funded contracts and understanding of their reporting requirements
- Additional languages, in particular, Spanish, French or Arabic, are beneficial
Reporting and organisation
The Education Specialist will report to the Contract Director and will work closely with the Team Lead and the wider team to ensure the delivery and overall smooth running of the project.
This is a mid-level position with salary dependent on qualifications and benchmarked according to other MannionDaniels salary levels. Flexible working arrangements considered. Occasional international and national travel will be required.
*This role is offered as employment for those residing in either: Bath, London or Nairobi. All other locations will be on a consultancy basis.
