Global School Leaders Content and Knowledge team seeks consultants to:

Work on ongoing projects in Latin America, and
Join a pool of consultants available for future projects worldwide.

The Content and Knowledge team produces and shares content and knowledge that supports evidence-based policies and professional development for school leaders across the Global South. We develop school leadership professional development materials, including training curricula, guidebooks, and toolkits. We disseminate these through the GSL Resource Portal to support our partners in adapting these resources to their local contexts. In addition, we also develop resources to support our partners in providing coaching for school leaders and setting up and supporting professional learning communities. We are looking for consultants who can develop training content for school leaders or develop coaching or PLC programs and materials

We are currently searching for consultants who can:

Design and coordinate professional development (training) programs for school leaders. A minimum of 3 years of work experience in education or social development research.
Design and facilitate capacity-building for organisations that support school leaders and teachers.

We will recruit at least one consultant based in Latin America (Latam) and fluent in English and Spanish to assist with our ongoing projects. These projects will last for at least six months and will require between 1 and 2 days per week each.

Three examples are:

School network and school leader professional development: In this project, we are working to support a small network of schools in Guatemala, engaging school leaders in specific areas of professional development. This work involves drawing on GSL’s extensive resource collection and tailoring it to groups of school leaders, translating it, and developing context-relevant case studies and resources. The consultant will also facilitate some of the sessions they design, and, depending on their location, visit the participating school. They will also provide coaching to participants as they integrate concepts and skills from the sessions into their leadership practice.
Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN)-focused instructional leadership professional development: In this project, we are adapting our existing FLN-focused instructional leadership resources to support a teacher-focused FLN intervention in Colombia. Here, we need support to refine school leader professional development sessions.
Partner network and capacity-building: In this new project, we are supporting five NGOs to integrate school leader professional development approaches into their existing teacher-focused support. We anticipate using a blend of coaching, guidance and peer learning activities to support these organisations to include school leadership in their work. Some amount of travel within Guatemala will be required for this role.

Work authorisation, compensation and language requirements: The Latam consultant must have work authorization from their country. Their rate will be commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience, and be competitive with the non-profit education sector in the country in which candidates are based. The hourly rate for this position ranges from 300-425 Mexican pesos and 123-176 Guatemalan quetzales. The Latam consultant candidates must be fluent in Spanish and English.

We will also enlist promising candidates into a pool of consultants who can be invited into a variety of anticipated projects that emerge based on demands from our partners - these may require anything from a few days of work to a longer-term commitment over many months, working on a specific topic for a specific partner. At the beginning of the contract, we will agree on a daily rate, the time commitment, and the objectives. The pool consultants candidates must be fluent in English, and can be based anywhere in the world as long as they have work authorisation in their country.

⁠Have you collaborated with others to design or implement training or coaching resources?
⁠Do you have experience working with schools in rural areas or those serving marginalised communities?
