The Role
We're hiring an Impact and ESG Manager to own impact measurement and management (IMM) across the fund - from pre-investment screening through to portfolio monitoring and reporting to our investors and partners. You'll be the person who ensures our impact thesis translates into a credible, evidence-based practice: setting the frameworks, doing the analysis, and working directly with founders to strengthen how their companies create and measure impact. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role suited to someone who is equally comfortable in a methodology debate, a due diligence deep-dive, and a working session with a portfolio founder.
Key Responsibilities
Impact measurement & management framework
- Own and continuously improve Anara's IMM methodology, drawing on recognized standards (Impact Frontiers / the five dimensions of impact, IFC Operating Principles for Impact Management, GIIN IRIS+, the SDGs).
- Develop theories of change and impact KPIs at fund and company level.
Pre-investment due diligence
- Lead impact and ESG due diligence on prospective investments, including impact scoring, risk assessment, and additionality analysis.
- Drive the impact section of IC memos and present impact recommendations to the Investment Committee
Portfolio monitoring & reporting
- Track portfolio impact performance against agreed KPIs, run periodic data collection, and surface insights for the team and portfolio companies.
- Produce impact reporting for LPs, grant partners, and other stakeholders, ensuring it meets the standards of institutional and concessional capital providers.
- Lead the production of Anara's flagship annual impact report, our headline statement of fund-level outcomes to investors and the wider ecosystem.
ESG risk management and Compliance
- Embed ESG risk management across the investment lifecycle
- Support compliance with institutional investors' requirements (e.g. charitable-purpose, governance, and private-benefit conditions).
Portfolio support & capacity building
- Work directly with founders to build their impact and ESG measurement capacity, helping them embed practices that are credible and proportionate to their stage.
Thought Leadership
- Contribute to sectoral deep dives across our themes - analyzing market dynamics, impact opportunities, and emerging companies to sharpen Anara's investment thesis and pipeline.
- Represent Anara's impact approach externally and contribute to the wider regional impact-investing ecosystem.
What We're Looking For
Required
- 5+ years of relevant experience in impact measurement, ESG, development finance, impact investing, or a closely related field.
- Strong command of impact and ESG frameworks and the ability to apply them pragmatically to early-stage companies.
- Analytical rigor, comfort working with both quantitative KPIs and qualitative outcome evidence.
- Good communication skills, with experience producing investor- or board-grade reporting.
- Professional working proficiency in English and Arabic
Preferred
- Exposure to one or more of our themes- Learning, Climate, Wellbeing.
- Experience within a VC/PE fund or directly supporting early-stage companies.
- Familiarity with the MENA region and its development context
- Experience leveraging AI workflows to streamline repetitive tasks and streamlining data gathering
Why Join Us
- Ownership of the impact function in a fund where impact is central, not a side function.
- Direct exposure to founders and investment decisions across a high-conviction MENA portfolio.
- A small, mission-driven team and the autonomy to shape how we work.
