Position Overview
Reporting to the Vice President of Programs and Grantmaking, we are looking for a thoughtful, creative, and organized individual with experience in the nonprofit sector as a Programs and Grantmaking Manager. This position is responsible for facilitating existing and new areas of programs and grantmaking, supporting nonprofit partners beyond their grants, and leading analysis of program data. They will engage regularly with the Cambridge nonprofit ecosystem and collaborate as a thought-partner with the Vice President of Programs and Grantmaking. They will also work with the Foundation’s communications and development teams to achieve foundation goals and play an active role in communication and collaboration with external community partners and nonprofit organizations.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Programs and Grantmaking Planning and Maintenance
- Manage the implementation and ongoing refinement of grantmaking strategies to support the Foundation’s mission, goals, and strategic priorities.
- Support and execute the administrative processes that accompany strategic grantmaking, including communicating with community partners and grantee support.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of grant-funded work through regular communication with grantees, site visits, data analysis, and storytelling; collaborate with the Foundation’s communications and development teams to share program progress and impact with external audiences.
- Convene and collaborate with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and other partners to support alignment, innovation, and shared learning within the Foundation’s strategic initiatives.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for nonprofit partners participating in strategic initiatives, providing thought partnership, technical assistance, and connection to resources as needed.
- Support the Vice President for Programs and Grantmaking in developing new strategic initiatives, including conducting landscape research, identifying gaps and opportunities, and designing grantmaking frameworks.
Civic and Community Engagement
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Foundation to ensure alignment between grantmaking efforts and other key functions such as communications, development, and finance.
- Represent the Foundation in relevant philanthropic, civic, and nonprofit networks, as assigned by the Vice President of Programs and Grantmaking; stay informed on emerging trends and issues that impact the local nonprofit sector and the communities the Foundation serves.
- Participate in Foundation-hosted events, convenings, and public programs, some of which may occur in the early morning, evening, or on weekends.
Education and Experience:
- 5 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, ideally in a community-focused organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to use technology in a productive and efficient way.
- Experience working with and deep understanding of diverse communities.
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and reasoning skills, including attention to detail and comfort with data
- Proven ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with individuals and organizations across race, ethnicity, sector, and experience.
- Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal—including comfort with public speaking and facilitation.
- A team player with demonstrated ability to effectively function as a member of a team in a work environment that sometimes requires “all hands” for a given circumstance.

Salary
The salary for this position is $75,000 - $85,000, commensurate with background and experience.
Benefits
CCF covers 75% of an employee’s Health and Dental insurance on the CCF plan, and 100% of Vision, Life, and Disability (short-term and long-term) insurance. Benefits include three weeks of paid vacation time and one week (40 hours) of sick time. In addition, employees receive 13 paid holidays following the City of Cambridge calendar. The Foundation provides a 403(b) plan to which an employee may immediately contribute on either a pre- or post-tax (Roth) basis. Additionally, the CCF Board traditionally makes a discretionary employer contribution based on business results (currently 3% of the employee’s salary) to staff 403(b) accounts on a three-year vesting schedule for those staff who have completed their first six months within their first calendar year.
