TaRL Africa operates in more than 15 countries and has reached over five million children with evidence-based interventions.

The Nigeria team works in dynamic, high-pressure environments requiring strong collaboration, adaptive decision-making, and effective stakeholder management.
As the programme expands, strengthening Emotional Intelligence (EI) across the management team is a strategic priority to enhance leadership effectiveness, team engagement, and organisational performance.
TaRL Africa Nigeria seeks a qualified consultant or firm to design and deliver a structured, three-phase Emotional Intelligence Leadership Development Programme over a 3-month period.
Objective of the Assignment
To strengthen the emotional intelligence competencies and leadership effectiveness of TaRL Africa Nigeria’s management team, resulting in improved collaboration, communication, conflict management, and staff engagement.
By the end of the engagement, participants should demonstrate:
- Increased self-awareness and emotional regulation
- Improved communication, empathy, and influence
- Stronger coaching and feedback practices
- More constructive conflict management
- Application of EI principles in team leadership
- Measurable improvement in leadership behaviours (baseline vs. endline 360° feedback)
Target Participants
TaRL Africa Nigeria management team (approximately 16 participants), including leaders with direct supervisory responsibilities.
Scope of Work
Phase 1: Assessment & Immersive Training (Week 1-4)
a. Diagnostic and Baseline
- Conduct desk review and brief needs assessment (interviews/surveys).
- Administer baseline 360° leadership feedback.
b. Programme Design and Delivery
- Design and facilitate a 4-day immersive, practical EI leadership training.
- Provide tools for emotional regulation, communication, empathy, influence, coaching, and conflict management.
- Support participants to develop individual Leadership Action Plans.
Phase 1 Deliverables:
- Needs assessment summary
- Training design and materials
- Baseline 360° summary (individual + aggregate)
- 4-day training delivery
- Individual Leadership Action Plans
- Attendance documentation
Phase 2: Virtual Ongoing Support & Applied Practice (Weeks 5–16)
Purpose: Embed learning into day-to-day leadership practice through structured virtual support, accountability, and reflection.
a. Monthly Virtual Group Coaching Sessions (4 sessions | 2 hours each)
- Facilitated reflective sessions focused on real leadership challenges.
- Peer learning and case discussions.
- Reinforcement of key EI competencies: emotional regulation, feedback, influence, difficult conversations, and team motivation.
- Review of Leadership Action Plan progress.
b. Individual Coaching Support (Optional or Targeted – 1–2 sessions per participant)
- 60-minute virtual sessions.
- Focused on personal leadership blind spots identified in the 360°.
- Support in navigating high-stakes leadership situations.
c. Leadership Application Assignments
Participants implement at least:
- 1 structured feedback conversation
- 1 coaching conversation
- 1 conflict navigation or influence strategy
- 1 team engagement initiative
Participants document lessons learned and impact.
Phase 2 Deliverables:
- 4 virtual group coaching sessions delivered
- Micro-learning materials and reinforcement resources
- Coaching session summaries (confidential, themes only)
- Mid-point progress pulse survey
- Brief progress update report (themes, wins, challenges, engagement levels)
Phase 3: Reinforcement, Evaluation & Sustainability (Weeks 17–20)
Purpose: Measure impact, reinforce behaviour change, and embed sustainability mechanisms.
a. Endline 360° Leadership Feedback
- Re-administer 360° assessment.
- Compare baseline vs. endline shifts.
- Identify growth areas and sustained gaps.
b. Reflection & Reinforcement Workshop (In-person | 2 Days)
- Review collective progress and key behaviour shifts.
- Reflect on case examples of applied EI leadership.
- Identify organisational patterns that support or hinder emotionally intelligent leadership.
- Co-create sustainability commitments.
c. Individual Growth Review Reports
- Comparative 360° feedback summary.
- Progress against Leadership Action Plan.
- Personal development recommendations for the next 6–12 months.
d. Organisational Impact Brief
- Aggregate leadership shifts.
- Key behaviour trends.
- Recommendations for embedding EI into performance management, culture, and leadership development processes.
Phase 3 Deliverables:
- Endline 360° summary (individual + aggregate)
- 2-day reinforcement workshop delivery
- Individual growth reports
- Final programme impact report with recommendations

Vendor Qualifications
- Proven experience in leadership development and Emotional Intelligence training
- Experience working with NGOs, public sector, or complex operating environments (preferred)
- Capability to administer and analyse 360° feedback tools
- Strong facilitation experience with senior and mid-level leaders.
- Clear methodology for sustaining behavioural change beyond training events
